Oz moves to Pacific Grove for a weekend
Monterey County residents will be able to mingle with upstanding denizens from the Land of Oz on Saturday.
Two of the original Munchkin cast members of the 1939 film, "The Wizard of Oz," will appear at The Robert Down Elementary School for a public presentation called "A Morning in Oz."
The event will include Margaret Pelligrini, who played both a flower-pot dancing townslady and a sleepyhead baby, and Clarence Swensen, who played one of Judy Garland's marching soldier escorts."
Also scheduled to attend is Robert A. Baum, great-grandson of L. Frank Baum, the author who published "The Wizard of Oz" in 1900, as well as 13 sequels.
Admission to the event is $5 per person and tickets will be sold at the door. Attendance will be limited to the first 400 persons.
The event is the only public event during the annual west coast convention of the International Wizard of Oz Club, which is meeting in Pacific Grove this weekend.
